Gardening in Cape Carteret

Cape Carteret sits on Bogue Sound at the foot of the bridge to Emerald Isle. Many of the neighborhoods here are well established, with mature pines, azaleas, and lawns that have been in place for decades. That often means a yard with plenty of shade and roots, and sandy, acidic soil under the pine straw.

Rather than fight tree roots and sand, we build the garden up. Filled with good soil (we can add it for you), a raised bed gives you deep, loose soil from day one, keeps roots out, and puts the plants at a height that is easier on the back and knees.

Finding the sun

In a yard with big trees, the best garden spot is not always obvious. We check how the sun moves across your property through the seasons, so the bed lands where it gets enough light. Sometimes that is a side yard or a corner by the driveway instead of the middle of the backyard, and that is fine — we build to fit the space you have.

Neighborhood notes

Some Cape Carteret neighborhoods have covenants or an HOA. Backyard beds are rarely an issue, but fences, arbors, and taller trellises may need a quick approval. Tell us what your rules say and we will work within them.
